Bacon Downplays (Make that Denies) Trump Backlash

Omaha, NE.—While Democrats across the country arguably look first and foremost for a big backlash against President Trump to regain Capitol Hill in November, Omaha area Congressman Don Bacon says those numbers (see full interview above) just don’t add up….not here, not now.

News Channel Nebraska: Are you worried about a Trump backlash in the fall?

Bacon: Well right now he’s even in this district.

And for now Bacon’s recent numbers are the only one’s talking about the 2nd Congressional District.

A recent Morning Consult survey finds Trump four points up in Nebraska: 50 per cent approve of the job he’s doing, 46 percent disapprove. But those are statewide numbers, no drilling down into the 2nd District alone.

All of which leaves Bacon, who faces Democrat Kara Eastman in November, smiling.

News Channel Nebraska: What does your own polling indicate.

Bacon: That I have the advantage right now. Tax reform is popular in this district. I like it when the Democrats want to make this an issue because I will win by a double landslide if that’s the issue.
