BEATRICE – Jefferson and Gage County officials are investigating damage done to a farm field west of Beatrice, following a pursuit of a green Ford extended cab pickup, early Tuesday morning.
A Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputy was pursuing the truck after it failed to stop for a speeding violation. The pursuit went into Gage County on Nebraska Highway 4, when the pickup left the highway and traveled through a field, at Southwest 103rd Road.
The truck caused an estimated $1,000 damage to the field and crops owned by Don Esau.
Gage County Sheriff’s officers say the suspect vehicle apparently traveled north into Saline County, where the driver eluded law officers.
The investigation continues.
