COLUMBUS – The 50th Annual Rural Recognition Banquet was held Tuesday night, to celebrate ag producers across the area.
Several public officials spoke at the event, including Lt. Governor Mike Foley, Nebraska Ag Director Steve Wellman, and Keynote Speaker Neil Dierks. Dierks is the National Pork Producers Council’s Chief Executive Officer.
The event spent time looking back at the past 50 years of the event and the impact of ag producers in the area.
Chamber Ag Committee Chairman Brad Christensen says, “The number of past award honorees that were present was outstanding and only solidifies the importance and impact agriculture has on our area and how proud everyone is of what we do and how we do it.”
The event also recognized Platte County as a Livestock Friendly County, by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture.
Chamber President K.C. Belitz says, “It was a fantastic celebration of 50 years of the Rural Recognition Banquet. One key message we heard from Neil Dierks with National Pork Producers and from State Ag Director Steve Wellman was that the future of ag in Platte County is bright! Very few places are better positioned to take advantage of the future growth in global food demand than we are right here.”
The event was held Tuesday evening.
