COLUMBUS – Ag Park was host to the 49th Annual Rural Recognition Banquet on Tuesday evening as agriculture enthusiasts from around the area gathered to recognize the areas best.
There was a recognition of honored guests, different 4H awards handed out, ag scholarships that were awarded as part of the proceedings.
Chamber Ag Committee Chairman Brad Christensen helped organize the entire event, and he thoroughly enjoys watching the community come together to recognize the industry.
“This is our event of the year that we try to recognize and congratulate the key supporters of our industry throughout the year. They’ve been nominated by their peers, which I think is very important, their colleagues are nominating them for being successful in what they do,” said Christensen.
For Christensen, he enjoys seeing some of the youth participating in the agriculture industry as well.
“The 4-H awards, the kids apply for levels throughout the year. They have certain goals they have to meet with project and community service events, and they actually have to qualify to get the award,” said Christensen.
All in all, the event was a success as the award recipients were honored in front of a large crowd.
