39th Homestead Days Underway, in Beatrice

BEATRICE – The Homestead Days celebration is underway in Beatrice.

President of the Beatrice Area Chamber of Commerce, Angie Bruna says activities began last night with a Gage County Habitat for Humanity fundraiser at the Centenary United Methodist Church and a teen night offering free admission at the Big Blue Water Park.

A lot of activities again focus on Charles Park this year.  Saturday morning, a ten-k, five-k race and one-mile run will be held at Chautauqua Park, with registration beginning at six-thirty a.m.  Friday night, there’s a cycling tour along The Chief Standing Bear Trail.

The Homestead Days Parade is this Saturday through downtown Beatrice, beginning at ten a.m.

Main Street Beatrice Executive Director Michael Sothan says the organization will be putting on its annual Ribfest Saturday, at the Security First Bank parking lot, 7th and Ella Streets.

This year’s Homestead Days theme is “Honoring Everyday Heroes”.  The 35th annual Homestead Days Classic and Street Rod Car show will be Sunday, next to Charles Park, starting with registration at eight a.m.
