The Northwestern football team will honor Sam Foltz on Saturday when the Huskers travel to Ryan Field.
The Wildcats will wear a special helmet sticker to pay tribute to the late Husker punter. The sticker has not yet been revealed because Northwestern won’t have them ready until the end of the week.
The Huskers have also worn a helmet sticker all season in Foltz’s memory.
Nebraska’s opponents this season have stepped up to show respect for the Huskers’ loss.
Fresno State declined a delay of game penalty in the season opener when Nebraska came out with 10 men on its first punt. Bulldog coach Tim DeRuyter even got emotional discussing it after the game.
“If we can’t teach our guys about doing something classy like that, what’s college for?” DeRuyter said.
On Saturday, Oregon coach Mark Helfrich and kicker Matt Wogan placed a bouquet of flowers at the 27-yard line before the game as a tribute to Foltz.
“That was real classy,” Nebraska coach Mike Riley said of Oregon’s gesture. “Almost every day by the hour we’re reminded of Sam Foltz, and we’re thankful for that. For them to step out and do that it was great.”
