Nebraska places three on All-Big Ten volleyball first team, two on All-Freshman team

Mikaela Foecke, Kenzie Maloney and Lauren Stivrins represented Nebraska on the 18-person All-Big Ten first team. Foecke was one of 10 unanimous selections.

The Huskers also had Nicklin Hames and Callie Schwarzenbach on the all-freshman team.

Foecke leads the Huskers with 3.72 kills per set, Nebraska’s best average since 2013. The senior outside hitter is sixth in school history in career kills and ninth in aces. She was a second-team All-American last year.

Maloney, a senior libero and co-captain with Foecke, averages a team-best 4.07 digs per set. She ranks sixth in NU history with 1,322 digs.

Stivrins, a sophomore middle blocker, was a two-time Big Ten defensive player of the week. She averages 2.23 kills per set on a team-best .401 hitting percentage, third in the Big Ten.

The setter Hames is averaging 10.28 assists and 3.31 digs per set this season. She has a team-high 21 double-doubles, trailing only Jordan Larson’s 22 in 2006.

Schwarzenbach is second in the Big Ten with 1.43 blocks per set. The middle blocker needs two more blocks to break the Nebraska freshman record (160) set in 2004.
