WILBER – The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines were able to go home happy on Senior Night, but a huge fourth quarter from Southern’s Drake Adams made it a lot more interesting than they may have wanted it to be.
Adams, who finished with 25 points in the game, scored the first 15 points of the fourth quarter, and the Raiders turned a 13 point deficit at the start of the quarter to a four point game, 40-36. A lay in by Trevin Saathoff made it a two point game late in the quarter. On the final play of the game, following a missed free throw, Zack Keller stole the ball as time expired to secure a 40-38 win.
The Wolverines went 0-7 in the fourth at the free throw line, but still survived to improve to 4-6 on the season. They were led by Tanner Sand’s 10 points and Grant Boysen’s nine.
Southern dropped to 4-6.
In the girls matchup, Wilber-Clatonia forced 20 turnovers. The defensive effort was led by six steals from Tori Homolka.
They pulled away in the second half, leading to a 55-36 win. Tristin Smith led all scorers with 19 points. Homolka added 11 and Korbyn Moldenhauer contributed 10. The Lady Wolverines are now 4-6.
