SYRACUSE – With strong performances on each side the Sterling Jets took home the team title at the Falls City Sacred Heart track meet on Tuesday.
The Jets finished second in both the girls and boys divisions, with Pawnee City winning on the girls side and Douglas County West taking first place in the boys.
A couple ladies were able win three events at the meet, with Sterling’s Nicole Harms winning the 300 hurdles, the 400 meter dash, plus the triple jump.
Mariah Willey of Pawnee City also won three, showing off her hops with gold medals in the long jump, high jump and 100 meter hurdles. The Indians Miranda Branke won two events, taking first in the 800 and 3200 meter runs.
Kacie Hahn of Johnson-Brock swept her individual sprints, winning both the 100 and 200 meter dashes.
Sacred Heart’s Madison Littrel took gold in the 1600 meter run.
The Lady Indians won two relays, with victories in the 400 and 3200 meter relay events.
Caitlin Ciara of Sacred Heart won the pole vault.
Haylee Heits and Abby Fiegener finished one and two in the shot put.
Not one male athlete had a huge day at the meet at Syracuse.
Johnson-Brock’s Ty Hahn was close, finishing first in 200 and falling just short in the 100 meter dash.
Sterling had a trio of gentlemen do particularly well with Tristan Dirks winning the 400, Logan Jasa taking first in the 1600 meter run and Seth Harms grinding out a victory in the two-mile race.
Lewiston’s Holden Christen was able to win the 800.
Lourdes CC’s Colter Fulton was edged out teammate Brandon Fredrichs in the 300 meter hurdles.
Sacred Heart won the 4×400 meter relay, Sterling won the 4×800 relay.
Andrew Davis of Pawnee City took gold in the discus.
Johnson-Brock’s Seth Moerer won the shot put. his teammate Tanner Ebeler won the high jump.
Syracuse’s Mitchell McWilliams was first place in the pole vault.
