PAWNEE CITY – With strong performances in the short and long distance runs, the Sterling Jets were able to come out on top on the boys side of the Lewiston Invite in Pawnee City.
The Jets won the invite with 103 points, with the Sacred Heart Irish finishing in second with 90.
Sterling’s Tristan Dirks won both the 200 and 400, edging out Johnson-Brock’s Ty Hahn by the slimmest of margins in the 200. Seth Harms of the Jets won the long distance races, winning the 3200 meter run with ease, and taking down Creighton Niemeyer of Tri-County in a tight one-mile race.
Sterling also won the 4×800 meter relay.
The Irish were able to win the 4×400 meter relay, along with two golds from Bryant Jorn, who won the discus and shot put.
Diller-Odell’s Reece Hennerberg had a strong day, winning both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.
Ty Hahn lost both the 100 and 200 meter dash by less than hundredth of a second, he did win the long jump.
Lewiston’s Holden Christen was the 800 winner and took silver in the 400.
