COLUMBUS, Neb. – The best girls golfers from all around the state made the trek to Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus for the Class B State Golf Tournament on Monday.
The ladies were in for a chilly and breezy day, with temps hovering in the high 40’s for much of the day.
Still, Scottsbluff senior Shelby Poynter shot a 2-over 74 to take first place on the day.
Joining the Northern Colorado commit in the final group Tuesday is Aurora sophomore Danica Badura. Badura, who placed 7th as a freshman in 2016, is one stroke behind, sitting at three-over 75.
Sidney’s Emma Alexander is in third and the silver medalist from last year Kendra Placke of Seward is in 4th.
Omaha Duchesne Academy has three golfers in the top nine, with Kristin Goertz tied for 4th, Anna Boor tied for 7th and Lauren Goertz in 9th.
Duchesne leads second-place Scottsbluff in team scoring by 18 strokes.
Also in contention is Columbus High’s Aspen Luebbe who sits in 6th place, with a 12-over 84. Luebbe, who took 10th last year, will be in the second to last group on Tuesday, along with Placke and Kristin Goertz.
The action will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning at Quail Run.
