MAAD Bringing Multi-State Softball Tournament to Columbus

COLUMBUS – A multi-state athletic association that is focused on supporting deaf athletes, has chosen Columbus to host it’s 59th, 36th, and 19th annual softball tournaments this summer.

Columbus Area Sports Council Director Doug Kluth says, the Midwest Athletic Association of the Deaf has selected Gerrard Park as the site for their 59th annual Men’s, 36th annual Women’s, and 19th annual Co-Ed Regional Slow Pitch Softball tournament.

The event is scheduled for July 6th through the 8th of 2017, the Omaha Association of the Deaf is the local host for the event.

“MAAD sponsors local and regional basketball and softball events in a 9-state area representing 8 local chapters. MAAD organizes yearly regional tournaments for member clubs as a social, recreational, and educational opportunity. Qualified teams will represent MAAD at national events,” says Kluth in a press release.

Kluth says, local softball official Chuck Fleeman is working along with MAAD event organizers to make sure the event is a success in Columbus.
