North Central Downs BDS for 1st State Title in Program History

LINCOLN, Neb. – The North Central Knights are state champions for the first time in program history.

North Central defeated BDS 54-35 in the Class D1 State Title Game.

The Knights led virtually the entire game, leading by four after the first quarter and 28-19 at half.

They continued their dominance into the second half, mainly because of their play in the paint, as they outscored BDS 36-8 inside.

Caitlin Orton led the way with 20 points for NCHS. Jadyn Bussinger scored 12 and Miah Wiebelhaus added 10.

Megan Grote of BDS scored 12 points in the loss.

North Central had previously won zero state titles, in any sport before their win Saturday.
