Norris Tops Gretna, Stays Unbeaten At State

LINCOLN – The Norris baseball team took another step toward a state championship Monday with a 5-1 victory over Gretna at Haymarket Park.

Norris got on the board early with an RBI double by Will Reetz in the bottom of the first inning followed by a triple from Cade Kohout. They added another run in the second and two more in the fourth to grab the victory.

Kohout led the offense with two hits and four RBI as the Titan hitters combined for five hits and nine walks. Meanwhile Jamie Young was solid on the mound, allowing just one unearned run on two hits and three walks while striking out 10 in seven innings.

Gretna drops into the loser’s bracket of the double elimination state tournament while Norris moves on to face Omaha Skutt on Tuesday.
