News Channel Nebraska Nets Eight Pinnacle Awards

The News Channel Nebraska sports and news departments were recognized at the Nebraska Broadcast Association Pinnacle Awards Wednesday night in Omaha.

In the television division, NCN received a total of 6 awards, including 2 gold awards. Rachel Urbanksi accepted a top designation for TV Best In-Depth or Investigative Story or Series “Madison County Sheriff Ongoing Training.”  While Brandon Aksamit’s story “Columbus Can’t Escape Pokemon Go Craze” was given the top award in the Best Multimedia Journalism-Entertainment Focus category.

NCN 48 in Columbus received a silver award for Best Spot News Reporting and NCN 21 in Beatrice was given a bronze award for Service to Business, Industry, Government or Education.

Televised sports garnered News Channel Nebraska in Columbus and Beatrice the silver and bronze awards for Best on the Scene Sports Reporting.

94.7 KNEN in Norfolk received 2 awards in the radio division, including a silver designation for Best Sports Play by Play and a bronze for Best Radio Newscast.
