Malcolm Tops Fairbury in District Finals, Both Teams Head to State Tournament

VALPARAISO – In a battle of the top two wildcard teams in Class C, Malcolm’s hot start and power was able to lift them to a District Championship.

Malcolm came out on top of the Jeffs, 11-3. They scored seven runs on five home runs in the first two innings to take a 7-0 lead.

Fairbury was able to play the Clippers even the rest of the game, scoring two runs in the fourth and once on a Claire Shumard solo home run.

Malcolm ends their season with a 25-4 record, while the Jeffs finish 22-7.

They will be the #1 and #2 seeds in the Class C State Tournament in Hastings.

Fairbury will play #7 Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan on Wednesday at 9 a.m.
