Lourdes Central Catholic takes control of district with Homecoming win over Johnson-Brock

NEBRASKA CITY, NE – Lourdes Central Catholic quarterback Hayden Miller made the most of his final game on Pioneer Field, scoring five total touchdowns to carry the Knights to a 36-22 Homecoming win over Johnson-Brock Friday night in Nebraska City.

Miller had three touchdowns on the ground and added two more through the air to help send his fellow seniors out with a win during their final home game in Nebraska City. The Knights will have one more “home game” at the Oak Bowl on the campus of Peru State College on Oct. 14.

Miller, Kade Olsen, Mason Lee, Dylan Paap, Brock Hogeland, Ivan Valdovino and Colton Davis all played their final game in Nebraska City.

Co-Head Coach Clay Carlton says the seven seniors are a hard-working group and are very close.

“They love each other, they work hard together and they like doing a lot of things together. They just have a great camaraderie about them and they’re definitely the heart of the team.”

Junior running back James Mason accounted for one of the touchdown receptions. Tight-end Hogeland caught a 26-yard touchdown strike for the other.

Johnson-Brock sophomore quarterback Cole Fossenbarger, making his second career start for the injured Trey Stutheit, threw for 194 yards on 18-26 passing. He threw touchdown passes to senior wide receivers Rees Armknecht and Jaxson Balm.

Senior running back Devon Clark was ruled out of the game Friday morning with a shoulder injury. Wyatt Nickels, another senior running back, filled in with 64 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Class D1 #9 Lourdes Central Catholic improves to 4-2 on the season, 2-0 in Class D1-1. The Knights travel to Omaha Christian Academy next Friday. The game will be available on News Channel Nebraska 1600 AM, 105.5 FM.

Johnson-Brock falls to 3-2 and returns home next week against Tri-County. B103 will have coverage of the game in Johnson.
