COLUMBUS – A standout Lakeview athlete is going to be driving just a hair to the south next year after signing to play with the Central Community College volleyball team.
First-team All-Central Conference volleyball player Jordee Korte has played in every match since her sophomore year, and the play time has paid off as she heads to CCC to play for the Raiders. Korte said she wasn’t sure at first if she wanted to play sports at the collegiate level but says Central is the perfect fit.
“”It’s just crazy that this is the next step in my life, and I’m super excited to be playing at Central. It is something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’ve kind of been on the fence about playing college but after this season I just wanted to do it,” says Korte.
Korte is 6th in games and 4th matches played all-time for Lakeview, as well as 2nd in attack percentage and 15th in digs, says Lakeview Head Coach K.C. Belitz.
“When we needed a big play, we wanted the ball in Jordee’s hands because she was always steady regardless of how big the moment. It’s very appropriate that it was her kill that won the match in our subdistrict final,” says Belitz.
“She’s got good size, she’s long she’s lean, she has played really every hitting position. So she brings a lot of potential in that regard that she is very versatile, and she is just a great worker, will just bring a great work ethic to our program. Which you know you can build a great team on that,” says Young.
Korte finished the season with 174 kills and a .215 hitting percentage in addition to 318 digs, 20 aces, and 39 assists. She will finish out her Senior year at Lakeview in spring.
Korte says she is still unsure of what she will major in, but on the court she looks to spend a good amount of her time near the net.
