Johnson County Central’s third-straight team title is a conference crown

LINCOLN – Tyler Bartels shot an 81 to finish third – one of four Johnson County Central golfers in the top ten – and the Thunderbirds won the East Central Nebraska Conference Tournament Championship Tuesday at Crooked Creek Golf Course in Lincoln.

JCC edged Yutan for the team title by four strokes, 349-353. Yutan’s Will Elgert won the individual title in a sudden-death one hole playoff over Palmyra’s Ty Hays. Both golfers shot a round of 78 on the par-72 course.

Eli Waring finished fourth with an 82, Tanner Kerner was seventh with a 91, and Sam Buss shot a 95 to finish in ninth place. It’s the Thunderbirds third title in a week. They were the conference runner-ups a year ago.
