JCC’s Moran, McDonald Win Total of 5 Events in District Meet

TECUMSEH – While the Lady Thunderbirds were unable to surpass Wilber-Clatonia for the team title, they had a pair of athletes show well in the final meet before state.

Johnson County Central’s Aleisha McDonald was able to win three events at the Class C-3 district meet, winning the 1600 and 3200 meter runs by large margins. She also was the top female finisher in the pole vault.

Maddie Moran of JCC won the two sprints, winning both the 100 and 200 meter dashes by eight tenths of second. She set personal bests in both races and will head to Omaha as the Class C favorite in the two events.

Wilber-Clatonia’s Logan Hayek grabbed wins in the 400 meter dash and the 300 hurdles, plus a silver medal in the 200. She’ll compete in all three events next weekend at state.

Tri-County’s Hayden Weise led her team to a couple of relay wins, plus she snagged a first place finish in the 800, edging out teammate Kailey Weichel.

Freeman’s Kayla Haynes was the 100h winner, she also qualified for state in the high jump.
