Hickman and Wilber American Legion Seniors Advance To State Baseball Tournaments

BEATRICE – The Hickman American Legion Seniors have advanced to the Class-B State Baseball Tournament after defeating Syracuse, 11-6, in the Area B-1 Championship game at Christenson Field in Beatrice on Tuesday night.

Joe Osborn doubled in the first two runs of the game in the first inning as Hickman built a five-run lead after two innings and never looked back.

Osborn finished with five hits, including a triple and double, three RBI and four runs scored.

Tyler Monroe pitched five innings, allowing just two runs on three hits to earn the win

4th seed Hickman was unbeaten in the tournament, defeating Falls City, Auburn, Beatrice and Syracuse twice to claim the Area Tournament championship.

Hickman plays at ten Saturday morning in the first round of the Class-B State Tournament in Wayne.

The Wilber American Legion Seniors defeated Centennial, 8-1, in the Area C-4 Championship at Beaver Crossing Tuesday night to advance to the Class-C State Baseball Tournament in Albion.

Wilber score a run in the first inning before erupting with four runs in the third inning and adding three more in the fourth to put the game out of reach. Cooper Bates pitched the win.

2nd seed Wilber went undefeated in the Area Tournament, defeating Tecumseh, Wymore and Centennial twice to claim the Area Tournament Title.

Wilber plays host Albion in the first round of the Class-C State Tournament at eight Saturday night.
