GIRLS STATE TRACK VIDEO: Rainy Conditions Doesn’t Slow Down JCC’s Moran, Wolverine’s Hayek & Other SE Nebraska Athletes

OMAHA – A little rain didn’t bother athletes from all across southeast Nebraska on day one the State Track Meet in Omaha on Friday.

JCC’s Maddie Moran took care of business on Friday, winning both of her heat’s in the 100 and 200 meter dash. Moran is slated second overall in both sprints behind Mackenzie Brandl of Stanton.

Logan Hayek of Wilber-Clatonia advanced in all three of her events. She’ll go to the finals in the 400m run, the 200m run and the 300m hurdles. The senior grabbed a silver and bronze last year and she’ll go for a gold on Saturday.

Hayek’s teammate Taylor Parham took third in the discus, throwing 129 feet, 10 inches.

Sterling’s Nicole Harms will race in three finals on Saturday, advancing in the 400m dash, the 100h and the 300h. She finished second overall in latter.

Lauren Meyer of Syracuse had one heck of a Friday for a freshman, she took bronze in the long jump, and moved on to the finals on the 100m and 200m dash.

Mariah Willey of Pawnee City was second overall in the 100h and she was 5th in the long jump.

Freeman’s Kayla Haynes took third in her heat, but fourth overall in the 100m hurdles. She’ll be in the finals Saturday.

Allie Binder of Auburn took bronze in two mile. The Plattsmouth 3200m relay team took silver in their race.

Columbus’s Isabelle Watson won her heat in the 400m dash despite being in the undesirable lane 8.

Conestoga’s Reagan Ruffner advanced in the 400m dash in Class B.

Field events start at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, with the races beginning 30 minutes later.
