DAYKIN – When the #6 Meridian Mustangs were down at half, Junior Erin Johnson said that they turned up their intensity in the second half to get a big home win over #7 BDS.
“We hustled a lot more. We didn’t make a lot of changes at halftime. He told us it was a good first half, so we just did what we could to get it done,” said Johnson.
Meridian shot 55% overall from the field, and 71% from the free throw line to put up 77 points in their 77-66 win over the Lady Eagles.
Johnson was the leading scorer with 16 points, but four more Meridian players finished in double figures along with her. Breanna Miller, Hailey Schafer and Jaicee Sobotka all had 12 points. Allison Klipp added 10.
BDS was up 30-28 at the half before being outscored 27-16 in the third quarter.
Lexi Kadel led all scorers with 21 points, including five three pointers, for BDS. Regan Elfs also scored 17 for the Lady Eagles.
