Fairbury Jr. Legion Baseball Team Grabs Lead in Fourth Inning for Victory Over Tri County

FAIRBURY – The Fairbury Jr. Legion Baseball Team stole the lead late in the game in a 12-4 victory over Tri County Jr. Legion Baseball on Saturday.  

The offensive firepower by Fairbury was led by Wanamaker, Melcher, Andrew Novotny, and Novotny, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Carson York was the winning pitcher for Fairbury. He allowed one hit and zero runs over one inning, striking out two and walking one.  Konner Hasselbring threw two and a third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Jacob Kapke took the loss for Tri County.  He lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing two hits and one run while walking one.

 Wanamaker started the game for Fairbury Jr. Legion Baseball Team. He went two and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on three hits and striking out three Uher started the game for Tri County Jr. Legion Baseball. He lasted three innings, allowing six hits and seven runs while striking out three

Fairbury Jr. Legion Baseball Team collected 13 hits.  Wanamaker, Melcher, Brody Kroll, and York all managed multiple hits for Fairbury Jr. Legion Baseball Team.  Kroll, Melcher, and Wanamaker each collected three hits to lead Fairbury Jr. Legion Baseball Team.  Fairbury Jr. Legion Baseball Team tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases. Wanamaker led the way with two.

Evan Larson led Tri County Jr. Legion Baseball with two hits in three at bats.  Chapman and Larson doubled for Tri County

The Fairbury Juniors host Linn next in a double header Tuesday night.
