Diller-Odell Back in State Finals, Looking for First Title

LINCOLN – After leading two sets to none, the #1 Diller-Odell Griffins lost sets three and four, but bounced back in the fifth set to win the Class D1 Semifinals. They defeated #4 Doniphan-Trumbull, 25-17, 25-23, 20-25, 22-25 and 15-10.

The Griffins head back to the state finals for the second straight season. Last year, they were defeated by Johnson-Brock in Class D1. This year, they will play the winner of Hastings St. Cecilia and Stanton.

Diller-Odell was led by Madison Hajek’s 24 kills and Madison Jurgens’ 22. Jurgens and Paige Vitosh each had 25 assists, as well.

Doniphan-Trumbull will play the loser in the third place match and are now 26-8 on the year.

The Griffins are 32-3 and will play at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
