BOYS STATE TRACK VIDEO: Soggy Weather Doesn’t Spoil Day for Area Track Athletes

OMAHA – While the weather may have not been ideal, area athletes still put up prime performances at the State Track Meet at Omaha Burke Stadium.

Cam Jurgens of Beatrice is a back-to-back state champion, as the future Husker football player threw the shot over 59 feet, to easily win Class B.

Sacred Heart’s Bryant Jorn took first place in Class D in the shot put.

Reece Hennerberg of Diller-Odell took third overall in the 110m hurdles. He’ll run in the finals tomorrow in the 110, but not the 300h, where he failed to qualify after finishing in 3rd last year in Class D.

Ty Hahn of Johnson-Brock and the Irish’s Christian Harring both barely advanced in the 100m dash. The conference rivals will race again Saturday in the finals in the two outside lanes.

Miles Griffith of St. Paul tied a Class C state record in the high jump, jumping 6 feet, nine inches to take first place.

Columbus Scotus’s Cody Mroczek advanced in all three sprints, advancing in the 100m, 200m and 400m dash.

The Thayer Central 3200 relay team started off the morning with a gold medal, winning the race easily.

Trystan Brandt of Exeter Milligan won the triple jump, and he advanced in the 300h with teammate Trevor Luzum.

BDS’s Hunter Krehnke won his heat and he’ll race in the 110h final on Saturday.

Saturday’s action starts at 8:30a.m. with morning showers in the forecast.
