Box Carries Lourdes Central Catholic to Three Set Win Over Pawnee City

PAWNEE CITY – It certainly was a great Pioneer Conference matchup between Lourdes Central Catholic and Pawnee City on Tuesday night, but in the end Laura Box’s ten kills proved to be enough as they won in straight sets, 25-22, 25-22 and 25-20.

It certainly was a back and forth match with both teams having momentum at some point during each set. The Lady Knights also got a strong performance out of Addison DeFreece with six kills for the match.

Pawnee City was led by Mariah Willey’s seven kills, but Lydia Gyhra, Miranda Branek and Jacky Schultheiss each added six, as well, in a team effort.

With the win, Lourdes Central Catholic improves to 12-12 overall and travels to Lewiston on Thursday.

Pawnee City is now 12-11 and will travel to Falls City Sacred Heart on Thursday.

Both teams will compete in the Pioneer Conference Tournament next week.
