Board Will Terminate 911 Dispatching Service From Falls City

FALLS CITY – The Richardson County Board voted Tuesday to inform the City of Falls City it will no longer be using the city 911 dispatching service.

Commissioner David Sickel said the Richardson County Sheriff’s Office also operates a dispatch center and the county will save about $150,000 a year by discontinuing its agreement with the city.

Sickel said it will save the taxpayers’ money if they don’t have to pay for two dispatching services.

Sickel: “It’s kind of double taxation. Somebody has to pay for it, but we don’t need to pay for it twice.”

The county board set at Sept. 18 hearing for this year’s budget.
