BEATRICE – After Ralston scored four runs in the top of the first inning, the Beatrice Lady Orange scored 12 unanswered runs to earn themselves the regular season River Cities Conference Championship.

Following the Lady Rams four run first, Beatrice answered with four first inning runs of their own. A lead off home run for Addison Barnard and a three run home run from Mikayla Bletscher.

The Lady Orange proceeded to score three runs in the third inning and capped off Senior night with six runs in the sixth to run rule Ralston, 12-4.

Both seniors on the roster contributed to the win. Josi Zimmerman went 3-3 with two runs scored and Kelsey Markey, who pinch hit for Zimmerman in the sixth, added an RBI single.

“That was the best feeling ever. I couldn’t have asked for a better way to end my home games at Beatrice. It was just great to even run rule them. I don’t know, there’s no words to describe this feeling,” said Zimmerman.

Barnard closed the door on the Lady Rams hitters following the first inning. She allowed two hits in the first and zero following. Barnard also finished 2-3 with two RBIs.

“I was really proud because they helped me settle down and they just helped me relax,” stated Barnard.

With the win, Beatrice improves to 16-8 and they are currently riding a six game winning streak. They will play Omaha Skutt Catholic, Norfolk and Lincoln Southeast on Saturday at the Lincoln Southeast Invite.
