Beatrice girls’ track wins River Cities Conference Championship at Ralston Thursday

RALSTON – The Beatrice track and field teams competed at the River Cities Conference meet at Ralston Thursday.

The Lady O are conference champions, winning the meet with 154.5 points. That’s a full 33 points ahead of second place South Sioux City.

Junior Addison Barnard had one of her best meets of the season, taking first in the 100 (12.98) and 200 meter dashes (26.62), along with triple jump (35 feet-9 inches). She was also part of a 4×400 meter relay team that took first (4:16.76).

Elsewhere, junior Veronica Pinkerton claimed victory in the 400 (1:00.61) and 800 meter runs (2:24.68). She was also part of the winning 4×400 and 4×800 meter relay team (10:04.96).

Finally in pole vault, Jordan Maschmann won gold and set a new meet record at 9 feet-6 inches.

The Beatrice boys meanwhile placed sixth as a team at the RCC meet, totaling 59 points. Diego Rodriguez scored a victory for the Orangemen in high jump, clearing 6 feet-6 inches.

Beatrice hosts districts on Thursday with Ashland-Greenwood, Crete, Fairbury, Lincoln Christian, Milford, Norris, Raymond Central, Seward and Waverly all competing.
