BEATRICE – Two runs in the first inning would be all the run support Zach Hoffman would need on the mound for Beatrice on Tuesday night, but that didn’t stop the Orangemen from adding more on the scoreboard.
They would finish the day with 13 hits, including five players with two apiece, in a 6-1 victory over Falls City.
The scoring got started in the first inning, as the Orangemen began the day with three straight singles. Brandel Riekenberg would drive in Jacob Pinkerton as part of a two run first for Beatrice.
Falls City would capitalize on three Orangemen errors in the second inning, however. After an overthrow to second base, Parker Thompson came home to score and help the Tigers get within a run in the top of the second.
Beatrice would scored twice in both the third and fourth innings, though, and put it away.
Zach Hoffman earned the win for the Orangemen on the mound, going six innings, allowing five hits and striking out five.
Pinkerton finished the day with three singles and a run scored, while Dalton Hartig, Riekenberg, Caleb Wallman and Jacob Adams all finished with two hits for Beatrice.
Brady Lotter reached base all three times for the Tigers, walking twice and having a single.
Beatrice improves to .500, with a 6-6 record, and will next host Omaha Skutt on Monday. The game will be broadcast live on News Channel Nebraska radio in Beatrice.
Falls City drops to 3-6 overall on the season and will be at home against Auburn on Thursday. That matchup will be live on B103 radio in Nebraska City.
