SHICKLEY – Drew Bippes ran in his second quarterback sneak touchdown with 47 seconds left in the first quarter to put Falls City Sacred Heart up 12-0 over the BDS Eagles. After that, it was all Eagles in a 36-12 victory for BDS.
They would respond first on a two yard Kale Kleinschmidt touchdown run with 9:36 left in the second quarter to cut the lead to 12-6. He would lead them on another touchdown drive just over five minutes later as he hit John Christensen for a 29 yard touchdown, giving them their first lead, 14-12.
The Eagles were threatening to score again, but Sean Arnold forced the only BDS turnover when he jumped in front of a Kleinschmidt pass deep in Irish territory with only 42 seconds left in the first half. Three plays later, Bippes was picked off by Caden Norder, and it was returned clear down to the seven yard line with only eight seconds left. On the final play of the first half, Kleinschmidt accounted for his third touchdown of the half by throwing it to Garrett Schardt, making the score 20-12 at halftime.
The third quarter featured no scoring, but on Sacred Heart’s lone deep drive of the quarter, a botched handoff between Bippes and Ahern gave BDS the football back.
Kleinschmidt would put away the Irish in the fourth with a two yard touchdown run and a pass to Norder on fourth down from the 11 yard line for another touchdown. The Eagles would win 36-12.
Kleinschmidt finished the day with 196 yards passing, 157 yards rushing and five total touchdowns. Norder contributed four catches for 93 yards and a touchdown, as well, and BDS is now 6-0.
Sacred Heart loses for the first time this season and sit at 5-1. Bippes finished with 152 yards passing and two rushing touchdowns, but threw three interceptions to go along with a fumble lost.
Next week, BDS travels to Meridian and Falls City Sacred Heart hosts Pawnee City.
