Wayne Community Conversation to Discuss Access to Mental Health

A community conversation around how to recruit, welcome and support  behavioral and mental health professionals to Wayne and surrounding area is scheduled for Tuesday, April 24, 2018. This public event hosted by the Northeast Nebraska Behavioral Health Network (NeNEBHN) will be held in the Elkhorn Room at the Student Center at Wayne State College, 111 Main St, Wayne, from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m.

Wayne County is among 24 counties within the NeNEBHN region that have been designated as mental health professional shortage areas, as well as medically underserved communities.

The NeNEBHN seeks to facilitate expanded access to behavioral and mental health providers and services by working in collaboration with communities, diverse and experienced organizations, institutions, and individuals.

“Through this work we will collaborate directly with the community to develop community-based solutions that not only attract behavioral health and mental health professionals, but also help them stay and set down roots in the community,” commented Traci Bruckner, NeNEBHN Community Outreach Director. “In addition, we will assist in behavioral and mental health professional placements, as well as increase awareness of behavioral and mental health issues and needs in rural communities.”

The discussion will focus on what communities can do to lay out the proverbial welcome mat by developing plans concerning housing, financial incentives, and community supports for behavioral health and mental health professionals and students.

Residents from Wayne and surrounding area are invited to join the conversation on developing community-based solutions to increase access to behavioral and mental health providers and services.

For more information or to RSVP, contact Traci Bruckner at (402) 360-2109 or tracib@nenebhn.org. There is no cost to attend.
